Movies are one of the most important forms of connecting with people. It is a medium which is widely used and abused. Some movies just stay with u long after u've even forgotten the main storyline. When i sit to recollect which are my favourites i would have to sit for some time and think. The list would include a rainbow of various movies i've wached over the time. Anahat, Bombay to Goa, Padosan, Sarfarosh, Golmaal(old), Life is beautiful, etc. There is nothing specific that i look for in the movies, but most of the times it is the theme which attracts me. In this make-belief world what i most detest is hypocrisy. I hate filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali who claim to create profound art and try to play God. He is the other extreme of Satyajit Ray. Ray tried to portray the nuances of ordinary life in ordinary settings, this man here tries to create fantastic world in magnificent atmosphere. In Devdas he tried to use all the available colours in the world, which didn't work out fine so his next ventures were as colourless as possible. What he forgot to put into his movies was their soul. Highly superficial and artificial is a very common characeristics of his movies. No doubt that this is an unreal medium of art yet it has to realistic. I hope this time around Sanlay realizes his error and doesn't repeat it in his next film.
